Well another season may have finished, but we have one final opportunity to get together and relive the season that was 2009.
By popular request, we are back at the Juboraj, Rhiwbina, for one of their splendid Indian buffets.
It will be an evening full of food, yarns (no knitting!), and of course, those coveted player awards – definitely not one to be missed!
You are invited to bring yourselves and your partners on Thursday 17th September.
The cost has been a keenly negotiated £12.50 and for that you will receive poppadoms to start, followed by a chicken curry, lamb curry, chicken tikka, veggie curry, pilau rice amd naan bread.
There’s room for 60 so don’t be shy.
Please think quickly and RSVP to me before Sunday 13th September.

This Thursday we are playing against Highway Hurricanes at Caedelyn Park, Rhiwbina.
A map to the ground can be found on our Grounds page if you scroll down below the Llanrumney information. Basically the ground is tucked away just off Manor Way/Northern Avenue/A470.
You need to be heading southbound down Manor Way and then turn into the ground just before Tyn-y-Parc Road. If my memory serves me correct, you can either use the relief road that comes down from Caedelyn Road, or turn straight into the ground from Manor Way – the relief road is the safer bet.
See you there ready to play at 6pm or just before on Thursday.
Rhiwbina crashed out of the Willows Cup on Thursday night (11th June) despite good performances with bat and ball. Match report and scorecard are now online.
Rhiwbina moved into the top half of the Willows League table on Tuesday (2nd June) as they picked up maximum points with a 9 wicket win against bottom side GE Healthcare. The Pines are now sixth in the table with five league games still to play.
Batting first, GE struggled to post a competitive total. Their openers were both gone inside the first two overs. Graham Sisk forced one to chip lamely to a grateful Mark Sutton at cover while Dai James (1 for 15) cleaned up the other after initially struggling to find his range. The blood-curdling cry of celebration as ball hit stump is going to be used in a new film – “Nightmare on Elm Street 15 – Freddie’s back (from the Pavilion End and bowling leg spin)”. See Confirmed Details of the Tour from Barny Evans our Tour Chairman…
Dear commoners and fellow committee members,
I am writing with details of our upcoming tour to Bradford-on-Avon. This will take place on the 19th and 20th of this month. The fixtures are:
Friday 19th June, 6pm: 39ers -v- Rhiwbina 20 overs
Saturday 20th June, 10.30am 39ers -v- Rhiwbina 20 overs
These will take place on the central pitch in Bradford. (Try this postcode for those satnavvers amongst you – BA15 1LN). Please can we ensure we can get to Bradford for 6pm on the Friday? (It can be difficult at rush hour so an early finish may be in order).
It is intended that we shall have a few drinks on the Friday evening after the game and on the Saturday the Lions first test is on straight after our game so that might be a goer.
This year our official hotel partner is the Best Western Limpley Stoke available at:
Lower Limpley Stoke GB Bath, England, BA2 7FZ, Great Britain Phone: 44 1225 723333

Twins and doubles are available with brekkie for about £65. According to my local contact there is a lovely pub next to it. You may fancy something swankier in central Bradford if you are romancing however.
Finally I apologise or not getting a 40-over game, I just couldn’t find a side willing to host us on a Saturday, at least we get to watch the rugby.
Yours,
Barny Evans
Get to the large Culverhouse Cross roundabout, then take the A4050 signposted ‘Barry’. Go straight on, over three small roundabouts, and then when you see a metal footbridge over the road, take a left into Station Road (signposted ‘Ely Rangers FC). The ground is about 50 yards along the road on the right hand side. Here is a map. See you there between 5.45pm and 6pm.
Thanks to everyone who said they wanted to play. Sorry to those who were disappointed but we now have a strong XI for Tuesday’s match (2nd June). Please be at Llanrumney at 5.45pm for start just after 6pm.
